We welcome disabled guests and will do everything we can to make reasonable adjustments to facilities in Gingerbread Cottage to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Please discuss any additional requirements with us directly.

Bedroom Access

The cottage has a steep staircase to the bedroom which makes access for those with mobility problems very difficult. In any case as the shower/toilet is on the ground floor disabled guests may prefer to remain downstairs. We can provide a third, folding bed which can be positioned under the open staircase on the ground floor.

Wheel Chair Access

The front door of the cottage leads straight into the main downstairs room and it meets the minimum requirement for wheelchair access (775mm). Room for manoeuvre with a wheel chair inside is limited.

Car Parking

If preferred, disabled guests may park their car adjacent to the front entrance for ease of access. Please ask for assistance if you need heavy items to be moved.

High Backed Chair

We currently provide two comfortable sofa chairs. Guests may prefer to have one of them replaced by a high-backed chair with arms, which we can provide on request.

Kitchenette

The kitchen equipment is positioned so that access is suitable for most people. Please ask if you would like anything rearranged.

TV

The cottage television has Teletext facility for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Use of Refrigerator

Guests may store prescription drugs in the cottage refrigerator if required.

Print Size

Our arrival documentation is printed on 14 point and Arial font for ease of reading. If you need a bigger typeface for any correspondence please ask.

Non-Slip Mats

The downstairs rug has non-slip pads, and the mats in the shower/toilet are also rubber-backed. Please ask if you need a shower chair or additional non-slip matting in the shower. The shower screen area itself is larger than normal.
